Hidey is a photo and file vault for Android. It moves private photos, videos and documents out of your gallery and folders into an encrypted vault that opens with your PIN, password or fingerprint.

Yes. Hiding, viewing, fingerprint unlock and encrypted Google Drive backup are free, with no limit on how much you hide. The free plan shows ads. Pro is an optional upgrade with extra features and no ads.

No. You can use Hidey without signing in. Signing in with Google is only needed for Google Drive backup and PIN reset.

Not yet. Hidey is built for Android 11 and later. Some features, like removing photos from the gallery and disguising the app, can’t work the same way on iPhone.

No. Hidey hides photos, videos, documents and notes. It doesn’t hide or lock other apps.

Hidey is coming to Google Play. The download page always shows the current status and links to the listing once it is live.

No. Files are encrypted on your phone, and we don’t run servers that store them. Backups go to your own Google Drive or your own S3 storage, encrypted before upload.

Each file is encrypted on your phone with AES-256-GCM before it is stored or backed up. Your PIN or password, combined with a hardware-backed Android Keystore key, protects the vault’s key.

Yes. Hidey encrypts the photo, checks the encrypted copy, then deletes the original from your phone’s storage, so it disappears from your gallery and other apps.

Not from the cloud. If Google Photos already backed up a photo, a copy stays in your Google Photos account until you delete it there. Hidey reminds you the first time you hide something.

Anonymous crash reports and usage statistics through Firebase, purchase status through Google Play and RevenueCat, and on the free plan, the data Google AdMob uses to show ads. Never your files, file names or PIN.

To remove originals from wherever they are stored and to keep the encrypted vault in a folder that survives a reinstall. Google Play allows this permission for file encryption apps.

Not without your PIN, password or fingerprint. With Pro you can also add decoy vaults, take a photo of anyone who enters a wrong PIN and block screenshots.

Someone who controls your Google account could start a PIN reset, but it only completes after 24 hours, and entering your correct PIN cancels it. Turn on 2-step verification for your Google account. In Pro’s zero-knowledge mode, only your recovery key can reset the PIN.

In a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive, encrypted before upload. It counts toward your Google storage. With Pro you can also sync to S3-compatible storage you control.

Install Hidey on your new phone, sign in with the same Google account and enter your PIN. Your vault downloads and decrypts on the new phone.

If you signed in with Google, you can reset it through Google after a 24-hour wait. In zero-knowledge mode, use your recovery key. Without Google sign-in, the vault can’t be recovered, so keep a local backup file.

The encrypted files stay in their folder on your phone. After reinstalling, sign in with Google, or rely on Android’s own backup if you didn’t sign in, and Hidey finds and restores your vault.

With Pro, your vault syncs live between phones. On the free plan, backup works on one active phone at a time, and restoring on a new phone makes that phone the active one.

Yes. You can unhide items back to their original folders at any time, or export the whole vault as one password-protected backup file.

Yes. Subscriptions are managed in Google Play, where you can cancel at any time. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

Yes. Within 48 hours of buying, ask Google Play for a refund in the Play Store app. After that, email us within 14 days with your Google Play order number. Our refund policy page has the details.

Yes. Hiding, viewing and unlocking all work offline. Backups and sync run when you are connected.

Yes. You can choose internal storage or an SD card as the vault location.

With Pro, screenshots and screen recordings of Hidey are blocked. On every plan, vault content is hidden in the recent apps screen, fully on Android 13 and later.

With Pro, Hidey’s icon and name change to Calculator and the app opens as a working calculator. Type your PIN and press equals to open the vault. Android’s Settings app still lists the app as Hidey.

Yes. Videos play inside Hidey without creating unencrypted copies on your phone.

It looks for copies of items you have hidden that still exist elsewhere on your phone, such as a chat app’s media folder or your downloads, so you can remove them too.
