Hidey vs Vaulty
Vaulty is one of the best-known photo vaults on Android, and Hidey was built as an alternative to it. Both hide photos and videos from your gallery behind a PIN or fingerprint.
The biggest differences are where your backups live and how much of the security model you can check for yourself.

Where Hidey is different
Backups you own
Hidey uploads to a hidden folder in your own Google Drive, or to your own S3-compatible storage with Pro. We don’t run a server that holds your files.
Documents and notes, not just media
Hidey hides any file type the same way it hides photos, and includes encrypted notes.
A public security model
Hidey documents how encryption, PIN reset and recovery work, including the trade-offs of each option.
Disguise and screenshot blocking
Pro adds a working calculator disguise and blocks screenshots and screen recordings.
Which one to choose
Choose Hidey if
You want backups in your own Google Drive or S3 storage.
You also need to hide documents and notes.
You want to know exactly how encryption and recovery work.
Choose Vaulty if
You already rely on Vaulty’s online backup and don’t want to move.
You prefer an app with a long track record. Hidey is new.
Questions
Is Hidey made by the same developer as Vaulty?
No. Hidey is a separate app by a different team, with its own design and security model.
Can I move my hidden photos from Vaulty to Hidey?
There is no direct import. Unhide your items in Vaulty so they return to your gallery, then hide them with Hidey.
